glamping in Lanzarote

Does anyone else in the Northern Hemisphere feel like we’ve skipped through Winter and into Spring? And it’s really not too long until the two week Easter break. Have you got anything booked? I’m in serious planning mode. But more on that next time…

Although if you’re looking to squeeze in a little Spring city break, make sure you read one of my latest posts – 35 alternative European city breaks for families – compiled with the help of some top family travel bloggers. I certainly got a few more ideas up my sleeve from this!

What I’ve been up to

Since I last hosted the link up, I’ve managed to fit in a couple of European trips. First to Lanzarote, for a one-on-one adventure, just with Ezra. I was actually a bit nervous about this trip. Not because it was my first time travelling as a solo parent, but because of the island’s reputation as a package holiday destination for sun-seeking Brits. Not really our thing. But I soon realised that there is so much more to the island than waterparks and resorts, and we were really able to get off the beaten track in Lanzarote. It proved to be an incredible destination!

We had the BEST day on La Gracious yesterday 💙 It's just a 25 minute ferry ride from Lanzarote, but feels a million miles away. .. There are no paved roads on the island, and I wasn't up for riding a bike through sand 😂, so we clubbed together with some other travellers we met on the ferry and hired a 4×4 with driver to take us around. So much fun bouncing along the tracks, and found some stunning beaches ⛱️. Awesome place 😍 .. .. .. @lanzarote_retreats @turismolzt #Lanzarote #lagraciosa #lagraciosaisland #lanzarotephotographer #Canaryislands #canarias #canariasviva #beachlife #fearlessfamtrav #travelmadfam #wanderlustmomblogger #familytravelblogger #UKFTB #mummyblogger #adventureanywhere #takeyourkidseverywhere #letthemexplore #freespiritedchildhood #lpkids #lppathfinders #lpfanphoto #bbctravel #guardiantravelsnaps #beautifuldestinations #ourtribetravels #ourplanetdaily #traveljunkies #tmom #worldschooling

But what made our visit so special, was our hosted stay in a glamping yurt at Finca de Arrieta, an eco-resort in the North of the island. Just amazing! You can read my review here.

Farewell #Lanzarote 🌵💙 What a stunning and beautifully wild island you are. .. Ez and I had the BEST two weeks staying in our yurt at @lanzarote_retreats #ad. Such a special place, with a wonderful eco-concious community and perfect for young families. Plus this one-on-one time has been so much fun with Ez 🤗 We definitely hope to be back someday. .. But now to catch a flight and be reunited with my other two boys ✈️💚 .. .. .. #visitspain #latitudeoflife #latituddevida #Canaryislands #lanzarotephotographer #SpainNature #Spain #aquicanarias #lovecanaryisland #yurtlife #yurt #familytravel #fearlessfamtrav #lpkids #lppathfinders #snaphappybritmums #ourtribetravels #ecoresort #uktravelblogger #familytravelblogger #travelmama #travelmun #soloparenting #parentblogger #beautifuldestinations #runmywildchild #worldschooling #wanderlustmomblogger

And we also managed to get away altogether as a family for the February half term holidays. Flights were crazy expensive to go anywhere, but the Dover/Calais ferry was very reasonable. So we drove down to France in the car and had a fantastic week in the Vendée, staying in a beautifully quaint cottage in Lairoux  (read my review of our stay at L’Ecurie Holiday Home), and spending most of the days in the sunshine on the beach (in February!)

Our home from home for the half term week 🇫🇷 .. We are being hosted by the lovely Annette and Jason at @maisonlairoux (#ad hosted) in the #vendée and have received the warmest welcome. Whilst hubby and I appreciated the wine and croissants on arrival, the boys are all about the games room which has a pool table, dinosaurs, a costume box and loads of kids DVDs and books. .. And we have hit the jackpot with the weather ☀️☀️☀️. Have you seen our stories? We've been down the beach today and it's been absolutely glorious.
